After the exciting opportunity of practicing with my first newborn I had the chance to take my first one year portraits for a friend's little girl (in February). I must admit that newborn's are much easier in some ways since they do not move as much as an older baby might but, baby V was a blast to shoot. I was very excited about finally being able to take pictures of a girl since I am used to all boy things myself! She was full of energy and very patient about me posing her. The little rocking chair was one of those rare finds I hope to find each time I visit someone's house to take pictures because those types of props just add so much character. I was told by Baby V's mother the chair was her husband's when he was little. As always it was a wonderful learning experience for me as well since I had a better lens (50mm
) but, I had to use it manually on the D40. Who can manual focus with a one year old? The kit lens had to be used again to capture some sharper images.
I hope to take some 2 year old pictures for this little one in the future!
Please enjoy a taste of the fun we had...
The focus was way off on this one but, I just love this shot.
